AN ARTISANAL CULINARY EXPERIENCE

  • Order a notorious prickly pear margarita
  • Dine on cuisine inspired by Asia, Central and South America
  • Enjoy happy hour at the bar Sun. – Fri. from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

While there isn’t a shortage of culinary options to choose from, Canyon Southwest Café has been a Fort Lauderdale icon for 20 years, mixing up the area’s most notorious cocktail…the prickly pear margarita.  Spend an artisanal evening dining on dishes inspired by the flavor of Asia, Central America and South America, all made with locally-sourced ingredients. We can’t help but order the shrimp, scallop + calamari ceviche and beef tenderloin tacos every time – it’s our version of surf and turf. And, never skip dessert. Two words, bread pudding.

Insider tip: Canyon does not take reservations, however, waiting in the bar area with a prickly pear margarita isn’t the worst way to wait for a table.

A LOCAL’S GUIDE TO LAS OLAS BOULEVARD

  • Sip a perfect latte in a flower shop
  • Taste a selection of Kava and chocolates
  • Check out the local fashion scene at specialty shops

Las Olas Boulevard is a true destination for both travelers and locals, offering a collection of specialty shops, cafes and galleries.  An afternoon can easily be spent discovering a few local gems. Start your day with a picture-perfect latte at Ann’s Florist…yes, our favorite cup-o-joe is served up at this local favorite, offering not only java and flowers, but also a selection of home décor and novelty items. Take in the action of Las Olas sitting al fresco at one of the bistro tables or take it to go. Head west and stop in The Archives.  Featuring both men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, shoppers will love the NYC vibe and they’ll even hand you a brew while you shop. Next, take it to Andre Dupree Luxury Consignment.  Think bags, belts and accessories from high-end designers that are all authentic and certified. Post retail therapy session, recover with a glass of Kava at Kavasutra or cave into that sweet tooth craving with a bite from world-famous Hoffman’s Chocolates.

Insider tip: Take the water taxi (a stop is located only a short walk west from the hotel) to the Las Olas Boulevard stop and enjoy the city’s infamous waterways, yachts and waterfront mansions.

Kehoe’s is on Anne Street South, on the corner where it meets Duke Lane. The red and white sign outside says “John Kehoe’s”. Grogan’s is on William Street South, right across from where it meets Coppinger Row. The Long Hall is a burgundy and white striped pub, on South Great George’s Street near to Dublin Castle.
